Ms Amy, Lead Learner & Executive Director
Amy is a long-time resident of Colorado, having grown up in the Boulder/Gunbarrel area since age 4. Her parents were outdoor enthusiasts, always taking her on hiking, camping or ski adventures! This has carried over to her own true love of the outdoors and her complete admiration of our beautiful Colorado mountains. She loves to ride her road bike, ski, hike and camp, especially with her family. She is happiest watching her son playing in his baseball games!
Amy also loves to share the joys of our wonderful planet and local community with her preschoolers. She has worked in Early Childhood as an educator for over a decade. She is currently the Owner-Director of Wildflower Preschool, which she opened in 2013. She loves working with the staff, children and families each day. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people as a part of our community. She loves that there is never a dull moment in my day!
She holds a Masters in Elementary Education and a Bachelors degree in social sciences. She completed the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program in 2019 and hopes to work toward her EdD or PhD in early childhood education.
Ms Alexandra(Lex)- Site Director
Ms Lex is our Site Director at Wildflower Preschool, along with being a co-teacher in the Cicada (Pre-K) classroom!
She moved from central New York to Boulder 2 years ago in pursuit of the mountains and healthy life style Boulder has to offer. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, running, hiking, yoga, and exploring the area on her bike.
Lex completed her Bachelor’s Degree in 2013 in Animal Behavior at Bucknell University, where she realized her love for teaching through a couple of education courses. She went on to work in a preschool in New York for two years while earning a Master’s Degree in Inclusive Childhood Education, including two Early Childhood Education courses. Lex has experienced working with all ages and abilities birth through 5th grade, but her true passion is working with preschoolers in structured and guided play with developmentally appropriate learning practices.
Lex is thrilled to bring her knowledge into the classroom and help guide the Wildflower children to grow as the intuitive and curious learners they are!

Sam is a Colorado native and lives in Boulder with her husband, Justin, and cat, Winnie Cooper. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CU Boulder and completed her Post-Baccalaureate teaching licensure at MSU Denver. She is currently working on a Master’s in Linguistics at CU Denver.

Ms Dawn- Preschool Teacher
Ms Dawn has worked with young people since 1986. She began her experience as an art specialist in public education, teaching in Texas, Alaska, and Virginia. She left the public school system in 2005 after her research thesis validated her concerns regarding the lack of social and emotional challenges in most public school settings. Shortly thereafter, Dawn began working in non-traditional education settings in Boulder. In the non-traditional settings, her students showed her the importance of providing a space for social and emotional support. She began working as a nanny for several families as well, which is where she discovered her joy in working with preschool age children.
Dawn is interested in supporting the social and emotional development of preschool-aged your people through play, role modeling, and conversation.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys making ceramics. She loves physical activity as well as self-care; hiking, soccer, Pilates, and MELT Method. She is very interested in health through nutrition.
Ms Carol- Preschool Teacher
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to a wonderful loving family of five, with a father show was a revered teacher for 50 years, and a mother who was a former teacher. As a family, we spent our summers in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and time in the winter in Vermont, and were introduced to the joys of nature at an early age. As we grew, this included swimming, hiking, skiing, gardening, and just enjoying being outdoors as much as possible. I then introduced my own daughter to these same experiences at a young age, which she greatly enjoyed, especially when her grandparents were involved.
My passion has always been interacting and working with children, and I have spent the majority of my life doing this in one way or another. I began baby sitting and nannying at age 12 and continued through graduate school. So even before I became a formal educator, I had already had a great deal of experience with infants and children.
I received an MA in Special Education and Early Childhood Education from Columbia University and several years later an M.Ed. in Reading and Reading Disabilities from Arcadia University. I taught in Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, in a wide range of settings, in and out of the classroom, with children of varying ages and a wide range of abilities and learning needs. I learned tremendous lessons from every experience and loved each one for different reasons.
I then retired from full time teaching (or so I thought!) and eventually moved to Colorado to be near my daughter and her to-be-husband. I have been in CO for almost 3 years, am living in Broomfield, and have spent the last 2 years at the Colorado Swim School, teaching swimming to babies and young children.
I am thrilled to now be starting a new chapter in my professional life at Wildflower Preschool, and look forward to the joys and challenges that await me.
Ms Kira- Preschool Teacher
Hi, I’m Kira Fling. I moved to Boulder in 2006 after retiring from my career in short track speedskating. I attended CU for my undergrad and received my Master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Colorado Denver. In 2007, I began teaching skiing and fell in love with teaching. This helped me decide to pursue a career in education. I began teaching in 2010 and have taught kindergarten, preschool, and toddlers. I also hold a teaching license in physical education and have created and implemented a preschool PE and health curriculum.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy skiing, biking, hiking with my dog, and of course, ice skating. I love the outdoors and traveling, so you will rarely find me at home. I am excited to bring my skills to Wildflower!
Ms Rachel- Preschool Assistant Teacher
Ms Rachel finds it fun and rewarding to be a part of the Wildflower team. She has lived in Colorado for 5 years, and received her degree in Communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Mr Tyler was born in Bellevue, Washington, but grew up in Boulder. Growing up, he enjoyed playing sports—and played Tennis competitively. He has always enjoyed taking language classes, as he took both Spanish and French to the highest level taught in high school. He graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder in 2009.
In college, Mr Tyler completed a double degree and double minor at the University of Colorado, Boulder. With degrees in Broadcast Journalism (Broadcast Production) and Communication, then minors in Business and Digital Design (Technology, Arts and Media). He planned on going into Journalism or Corporate video production, but decided he would rather help his mother with her new school, Wildflower Preschool!
